Therapy at Supportive Family Services can benefit anyone who is struggling with a mental health challenge or looking to improve their overall emotional well-being. We work with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Have you ever felt depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, or stressed? Do you find yourself facing situations that you're unsure how to handle or support your loved ones through?
Have you been involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) and require a Psychological Assessment or Treatment plan?
Perhaps you're navigating challenges in your relationship with your children, figuring out how to discuss separation/divorce with them, or seeking strategies to avoid daily power struggles during homework time.
Or maybe your child is experiencing difficulties at school, such as struggles in writing, reading, or math, trouble making friends, difficulty listening to teachers, or exhibiting shyness or anxiety.
Even with your little ones, you might be dealing with issues like sleeping or eating troubles or frequent temper tantrums.
Do you have a child with special needs, and you're looking to enhance their strengths and abilities? Are there specific situations that leave you uncertain about how to handle or explain them?
If you are pregnant or have recently had a baby, feeling anxious, insecure, sad, or simply have questions that books, friends, or family haven't answered, Supportive Family Services is here for you!
Whether you're facing one of these concerns or others related to yourself, your kids, or your family, Supportive Family Services can provide the assistance you need.
If you've attempted to address these problems independently or followed advice from friends, relatives, or colleagues and remain unsatisfied, consider trying Supportive Family Services. At times, the challenges we encounter in our daily lives become too overwhelming to manage alone, and seeking professional help can provide better strategies to improve our lives.
With Supportive Family Services, you can rest assured that you are receiving the best professional service in counseling and psychotherapy.
We work one-on-one and in groups, with adults, children, couples, and families to help them navigate challenges related to relationships, parenting, family dynamics, developmental disabilities, children coping with parental separation, divorce and new relationships, school problems, emotional issues, and much more.
Once you decide to seek professional assistance, Supportive Family Services arranges an initial session with the client/s. If your concern pertains to your child or children, we initiate the process by meeting with parents or caregivers. This introductory session serves as an opportunity for you to express your concerns. The psychotherapist, mindful of your concerns, will present various options for addressing the issues. Based on your concerns and preferences, we can provide short-term or long-term therapy with sessions scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, either individually, in groups, as a couple, or as a family. All these possibilities and more will be thoroughly discussed during the first session.
Recognizing the diversity of individuals and their distinct needs and feelings, together, we will formulate a plan that aligns with you and your family's requirements.
Once you decide to proceed, the psychotherapist collaborates with you and/or your children to identify and address feelings and behaviors that may hinder the fulfillment of your full potential.
When working with children and teenagers, the psychotherapist tailors strategies to align with their interests. For children, given their natural inclination to communicate through play, this is a frequently utilized tool at Supportive Family Services, along with drawings and verbal communication. With teenagers, the psychotherapist may incorporate additional tools, depending on their interests and preferred modes of communication, aside from verbal exchanges.
It is crucial to reiterate that, throughout the entire process, Supportive Family Services prioritizes working with individuals' strengths. Even though identifying the positive aspects and strengths of oneself or others may be challenging at times, the psychotherapist at Supportive Family Services is skilled and trained to identify and leverage these strengths, facilitating positive changes.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Many patients attend therapy once a week, while others may attend less or more frequently. We will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. Generally speaking, we recommend to start with once a week, to accelerate the process.
Typically, therapy sessions at Supportive Family Services are scheduled for 50 minutes. However, sessions involving couples and families may require more time (usually 75 minutes), while sessions with children who have special needs might be shorter. We prioritize collaboration with our patients, discussing the session length and frequency to tailor each plan to their unique needs. This approach ensures that we align with their expectations and help them achieve their goals more efficiently.
Our fees range from $100 to $210 per 50-minute session, depending on the therapist's qualifications and the patient's specific needs, affordability, and availability. While OHIP does not cover psychotherapy or psychological services, most extended health benefits programs do. Our diverse team, with varying qualifications and experiences, allows us to offer a wide range of services at different fee levels:
All fees shown are for 50-minute sessions.
For those with extended health insurance, we strongly recommend checking coverage and claim procedures with your insurance company, as we don't offer direct billing and you would be responsible for submitting to your insurance the invoice for reimbursement.
For MVA patients, if the auto insurance has approved a treatment plan that we submitted, we can bill the insurance company directly.
Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered either in full or in part. We recommend contacting your provider to verify how your plan reimburses you for psychotherapy services.
When reaching out to your insurance provider, consider asking the following questions to better understand your benefits:
We accept e-transfers, cash and credit cards.
Do not hesitate to contact us for any additional questions you may have.
We look forward to hearing from you!
