Mariam is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, working under the supervision of Patricia A. Weinberg. Mariam is also a member with the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals.
Mariam has over 15 years of experience working with school boards supporting students and families with diverse needs (Anxiety, Behavioural Issues, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, OCD & ASD).
Mariam has a wealth of experience in working with populations ranging from children to seniors covering a variety of psychological issues like trauma, grief, anxiety, mood disorder, parenting guilt, depression, communication, relational transitions, self-esteem, internet addiction, negative thoughts, academic success, and other mental health issues. She provides a safe and nonjudgemental environment to engage individuals with their potential, which can empower them to escape from negative thought patterns and transform them into healthier individuals. She believes in a holistic integrated intervention approach to mental health care by applying various person-centred therapy counselling approaches.
Mariam speaks fluently Urdu, Hindi, and English. She can also understand other languages such as Punjabi, Gujrati, Sindhi, and Kachi. Mariam provides a collaborative and empathetic approach where the clients feel free to express their challenges for self-growth.
